Massive Update - BitScape++ v1.1.0


Hey all!

BitScape will be moving to version 1.1.0 this coming weekend (most likely Friday, April 18th). I will be doing last minute testing/polishing this week.

I will make another post to update you all when it's live... for now, please read below to see a summary of all of the new stuff/changes!

Major Features/Improvements:

  • Added a new game mode, IRON mode - which makes the game harder, but gives you some neat cosmetics
  • Added Fishing and Cooking skills
  • Added gold shop to the game, a place to spend excess gold for permanent upgrades/cosmetics (appears after first prestige)
  • Re-did all talent tree art, made them look much nicer and re-balanced some levels. Added talent 'orbs' to the talent trees
  • Added a bunch of new talents to some skills to pad them out, and changed some existing talents to be better
  • Added a button in the bottom right to see all unlocked tutorial messages, in case you missed one
  • Added more prestige talents, and prestige points now also boost gold earned
  • Added functionality for multiple save files, and hover text showing info about each save
  • Re-balanced combat in multiple ways, including restricting peasant levels to certain combat talents - but made it easier to get higher level peasants when unlocked

New Features/Improvements:

  • Upgraded to GODOT 4.4
  • Re-imported all audio as smaller files, added a main menu theme. Adjusted some SFX to be a bit nicer, and added a few new ones
  • Adjusted how game rounds numbers (no longer uses ceil, instead uses roundi in most places)
  • Made area buttons static in UI, and added settings option to let you instantly move between areas instead of playing the transition
  • Added more tutorial steps
  • Re-worded some talents/tutorials to be more explicit
  • Added some more stuff to save/load, such as spices selected
  • Added a bunch more options to the settings menu
  • Added various misc items that can be received from bird nests/treasure caskets/etc
  • Track playtime now, and show it at max screen (or when loading)
  • Added custom mouse cursor
  • Lots of various UI improvements, including making some text more readable and condensing skill UI

Bug Fixes:

  • Improved performance of game in a bunch of ways, especially when dealing with lots of moving parts on screen (and the bank)
  • Added check to prevent peasants from being dragged off screen
  • Fixed a bug with materials gained
  • Fixed a crash with monsters and arrows
  • Lots of other small fixes
